Seven people were killed on Thursday morning when a small passenger jet crashed in North Carolina, the local sheriff said.
The plane, a Cessna C550, was registered to the NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, Darren Campbell, the Iredell County sheriff, said in an interview.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said in a statement that while “the post-crash fire prevents us from releasing a definitive list of the occupants at this time, it is believed that Mr. Gregory Biffle and members of his immediate family” were on the plane when it crashed.
